Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. At the age of five, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons in acting, singing and dancing. As part of a school production and a Stagecoach show, she was as the lead role at age 10, and acted. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times, she as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. The film broke records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers praised the film, and especially the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British newspaper, was awed by her for her exceptional performance. Emma received five awards in recognition of her work in the movie.
